About

What kind of mimes are they, anyway?

What is this?

Attack Mimes is a graphic novel about Japanese theatre refugees on a quest. It takes place in a vaguely recognizable city from the west coast of the United States. As their journey continues, the “mimes” will encounter all depths of humanity from hippies and movie stars to street performers and a dog who can tell the future. Who will help and who will hurt is yet to be seen.

Who is doing this?

The WriterTrevor Hodgkins — Writer/creator

Trevor honed his craft doing time with various theatre and improv troupes in and around the Los Angeles area. You might recognize him from shows at such venues as The Groundlings, Ice House, and Comedy Store. Or maybe you saw him performing on the Venice boardwalk. He has also been in some terrible movies and one decent pilot which did not get picked up.

Most recently, Trevor has been wandering the desert in his native land of New Mexico while doing freelance writing. A recovering fast food addict, Trevor is also enjoying a new challenge in his life — cooking for himself — which invariably leads to another challenge — choking down what he just cooked. Good luck with that, Trev!

Jason Salas - Illustrator

Jason is an incredibly talented artist who handles all aspects of putting Attack Mimes artwork to page. Thumbnails, pencils, inks, coloring, lettering…Jason does it all.

When Jason is not working on Attack Mimes, he is producing his own strip Perk at Work three times a week. With the last few minutes of free time available to him, he does freelance graphic design/illustration and writes/performs original music. Once Jason figures out how to stop sleeping and/or blinking, he might finally fulfill his wish to do everything all the time always. We just hope it does not get in the way of his latest venture — joining a gang. Of idiots. That’s right, Jason’s work can now be seen in MAD Magazine!

Why the website?

Attack Mimes was originally presented as a work in progress with one new page posting every week. Never intended to be an actual webcomic, this site was started just as a means of providing an internal deadline for Trevor and Jason to follow and as a way to get live feedback. But there was a downside. Attack Mimes really should be read as a whole. The arc is long and it just does not work as a once-a-week reader. Simply put, we felt we were not doing the story justice by letting it be seen before it was complete. So, now, this site will basically be a blog/vlog/update/what-have-you thing. How exciting! But not having to actively maintain this site really does free up more time for us to concentrate on the matter at hand. That is, completing Attack Mimes.

When can I buy the book?

We are aiming for a Spring 2011 completion/release.

And what of the website then?

Who knows…maybe Dogstradamus.
